Tri-Valley's Armed School Security Guard program is committed to ensuring the safety of all students, staff, and visitors while fostering positive relationships, supporting student growth, and promoting a culture of respect and responsibility. Through mentorship, education, and community collaboration, our School Security Officers strive to create an environment where learning can thrive safely and confidently.
Officer Zachary Ney brings the discipline and experience of the United States Marine Corps to his role as an Armed School Security Guard for the Tri-Valley School District. As an Armed School Security Guard, he is dedicated to providing a safe and secure learning environment while serving as a mentor, educator, and resource for students, staff, and the school community.
Armed School Security Guards are trained safety personnel assigned to schools to support safety, help prevent incidents, and build positive relationships. They are certified under Pennsylvania’s Act 235 (Lethal Weapons Training Act) and provide enhanced campus supervision, visitor monitoring, and coordination with local law enforcement. Officer Ney’s role goes beyond security presence- he supports students in crisis, provides guidance, teaches law-related topics, and collaborates with staff to develop school safety plans. By acting as a liaison between the school and local police, he helps foster community connections that enhance trust and understanding.
Officer Ney loves being a School Security Officer because he gets to see students be the best they can be, and he thrives on the positive energy that students bring to campus. He enjoys seeing all the smiles and making school a welcoming, supportive place for everyone.
